Burr it’s cold in here, there must be some germs in the atmosphere

We all get the Fall into Winter cold at some point in our college careers. It is almost inevitable to get through college living in the too-close-for-comfort dorms and get away germ free. And let’s admit it, colds are no fun. Here are some tips to help you get through the common cold while in college, or anywhere, for that fact. In rugby news, we won against Holy Cross College 53-5. We are now 5-0 in our season and continuing strong.

On to the Tips:
  • Bring a roll of toilet paper around if you do not want to buy tissues.
  • If your nose gets red from having to blow it so often, rub some lotion on at night to get the moisture back into it.
  • Make sure to get plenty of sleep to avoid catching a cold, but when you do catch that cold, sleep even more to help your body get back to working again.
  • Clean the surfaces you touch most often to prevent others from catching the same cold and to help get rid of the germs faster.
  • Drink plenty of water to get rid of the germs faster.
  • If you need cold medicine, go to health services. Since you are paying for the service, take advantage of it.
  • Have a friend in class ready to share his or her notes if you get sick past the point of being able to attend class.
  • Consume some Vitamin C during the day to help replenish the vitamins you are losing from being sick.
  • As much as you might want to hug someone while you have a cold, don’t do it. It’s better to contain the cold than spread it around.
  • Clean your sheets after being sick so that you can feel cleaner from having all of the germs around you at night.

The roll is always ready for any stuffy nose occasion.

So many wipes and so many surfaces.

It's always helpful to get notes from a friend. Sometimes they are better than your own.

Freshman year I felt that I had a cold consistently every month, and if I didn’t get it one month, I sure as heck got it a bit later. I did not like having colds and would try my best to get rid of them as quickly as possible. Fortunately for me, the time I had my worst sickness, my only class for the day was cancelled, meaning that I didn’t have to skip class. I still have perfect attendance in class to this day.

The songs that I picked this week are all about being cold, not so much about surviving a cold. I thought they would go well with colds or the act of being cold somewhere in the title. There are some interesting songs out in the world along with some classics that fit into this category. Check out the songs played on this link here or on the Spotify playlist below.

One last thing:
We are going to be playing our hardest game of the season next week at Stonehill College. It's the unofficial/official playoff game. If you are looking to find the best game in the Rugby Northeast conference, come out to Stonehill in North Easton, MA at 1 pm to see both 5-0 teams play one another.

Getting ready for a scrum down at the Holy Cross game.
