Welcome back to the next installment of Q’s Tips:
The Blog! The direct script from “Q’s Tips” radio show
hosted by me, DJ Q, airing live Tuesdays 12pm-2pm on WWPV 88.7 FM The Mike or online through the station website.
This week on Q’s Tips the music was all songs that have a color in
the title. While doing a warm-up run for a rugby practice I had the brilliantly
funny idea when thinking of the song “Start Wearing Purple” since it is one of
our favorite work out and bus ride songs to dance and sing to as our school colors are purple and gold. We love that song so much. That lead me to thinking of how many other
songs feature a color in the title and I couldn’t stop, so I said, well there’s
my idea for this week. You can find the list of songs here. Along with rugby we won
at our game this weekend against the Bryant University Bulldogs. The score
ended at 43-12. We played a solid game and never gave up. In literally the last
minute of the game I scored a try (if you don’t know what a try is, it’s a
“touch down” in rugby) as they lost the possession of the ball. It was an
exciting game to play with my team. Another announcement is
for the annual Fiz Blood Drive sponsored by M.O.V.E. and the Men’s Basketball team.
It will be next Tuesday, October 8 from 12:00-5:30pm in the Quad Commons
Student Center. If you are interested in donating blood, give M.O.V.E. a call and
set up an appointment at 802-654-2674 or stop in to donate blood at any time
during the drive. This week my friend DJ MJ joined in for the first hour and
added some great tips for the show.
Here come the tips:
- Make a list so you don't forget things.
- Call your parents; they miss you and you know deep down you miss them too
- Locate a signature spot for doing homework. Mine is… I can’t tell you or else you’ll try to steal it and call it YOUR signature spot.
- Whenever you travel to a foreign speaking country, the two most important words to learn are "sorry" and "thank you." Those are the ones I use the most, at least.
- Go with your gut feeling it’s usually the right choice instead of thinking too hard and realizing later that you should have just gone with your gut feeling.
- Put your alarm clock across the room so you have to get up in the morning instead of turning over to turn it off.
- Thrift shops carry the coolest clothes that people choose not to wear anymore. At St. Mike’s, everyone thinks that thrift shop clothes are the coolest. So does Macklemore.
- If you ever have to make a shirt for a one-time event and don’t really want to keep it, write whatever you need to have on it in washable marker so you don’t have to keep it.
- Drink water all through the day and night. Your body will thank you
- Dress up for class because professors like students who look great.

One Last Thing:
Our women’s rugby team will be playing at home AGAIN this week at 1pm as we take on the Bentley University Falcons on the 300’s rugby pitch. If you can, stop by for a moment or the whole game. It’s always fun when we have more fans supporting us than the other team!

Keep SMCing,
