What’s In a Name?

Here it is again. Another successful week of Q's Tips and the blog post to go along with it. This week features songs with names in the title. Maybe if you are lucky, your name will be played on the show. Check out all of the names I played here. If you’ve thought of a tip that you want to share, write it down on the “Create a Q’s Tip” page. This past weekend SMCRFC played in the National Playoff game against University of Hartford and, unfortunately, lost. We finished the season with the impressive record of 7-1.

On to the tips:
  • Proofread your papers before turning them in; although it's annoying, it does help in the end.
  • Find people you enjoy being with – they are the ones that will make your time at places much better.
  • Make crafts to bring out your inner kid; it's also a great stress relief.
  • Look up the parental guide in Internet Movie Data Base while watching a movie; it’s always funny to see what parents should watch out for when showing a movie to their kids.
  • Guest Tip: If you are low on laundry, wear the same outfit the next day. (Minus the same undergarments, unless you're really desperate). If you are a college student, chances are you won't be seeing the same people on campus the next day due to your different class schedule.
  • Get a mini stapler to fit in your backpack; you’ll never have to worry if you need to find a stapler in time for class again.
  • You’re not supposed to use a q-tip in your ear, but we all do it anyway, Just remember to be careful so you don’t damage your ear drum since a q-tip is not a drumstick for your ear drum.
  • PB&J is a classic meal for children and adults; don’t under appreciate the quality of the PB&J.
  • Take a lap around Alliot to make sure you see all of the delicious food they have and see if you can mix and match anything.
  • Guest Tip: When you want someone to remember your name: at the end of a conversation, tell them that when you see them the next day you are going to ask them what your name is. Then repeat your name. They will take this as a challenge, and when you see them the next day they will remember!

Despicable Me is highly inappropriate if you look for all of the references.

Can you spot the mini stapler?

Take your lap so you can find all of the good food

There are so many songs with names in the title. When I was putting together the playlist, I knew that I would not be able to get a handle on all of the songs out there. Heck, I wasn’t even able to play all of the songs I put together for the show. With this playlist, I tried to incorporate some of the more recent singers since a large majority of my show has been focused on the 60’s, for no particular reason. And if you were looking to see the top baby names of 2013 or the bizarre pet names I talked about on the show, follow the links and read all about them.

These last two weeks have been very busy with morning practices and meetings galore. I hope the show is up to par as per usual, but if it’s not, next week should be better. I hope to keep up the good work for all of you friends listening and reading the blog to make each show just as good as all of the other shows.

One Last Thing:
This is normally the part where I talk about how our game went and the upcoming game for next week. Since we don’t have any more, I wanted to give a shout out to the seniors on our team. This group of eleven girls were able to show everyone on our team and school that even though our team changed dramatically between last season and this one, we could still go out and give it all we have and win. Since starting in the spring my freshman year, I have been able to grow close to all of you and develop great friendships on and off the field. Thank you for all that this group has done to keep our spirits strong and keeping us as the best team on campus.

All of these seniors made for a successful rugby season this year.
Shirley Ellis will help you to be able to rhyme any name.

Keep SMCing,
DJ Q
