Today is the big day, the Christmas Spectacular on Q’s Tips! For all of you that
have been avoiding Christmas now, is your time to shine with Christmas spirit.
This week featured some great songs from your favorite singers such as: Frank
Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Rosemary Clooney. Check out the selection of Christmas
songs by clicking on theplaylist here. This week also featured tips about celebrating Christmas
this holiday season.
On to the Tips:
- If you decide to wrap a gift in multiple layers, use newspaper in-between layers of wrapping paper so you don’t waste as much wrapping paper.
- If you don't know what to get someone for a secret Santa gift exchange, get something generic that you like. Someone else in the group might like that as well.
- Stamp someone’s name on their package, when you don’t want someone to know that it is from you.
- Go to the thrift shop to look for some cool and unique gifts for your family. Sometimes they have better items than what is new in the store.
- Give gag gifts to those you love – when they open them they will think it is funny.
- Say “happy holidays” around this time if you want to be politically correct; there are multiple holidays right now and you don’t know what someone might be celebrating.
- Want to celebrate the tradition of a yule log but don’t have a fireplace? Get a video of a yule log and put it on your TV. Same great tradition and easy clean up – just turn it off.
- Play in the snow as much as you can because nothing is better than a white Christmas.
- Making cookies is fun, just make sure you don't eat too much raw cookie dough.
- Get a fake Christmas tree if you don't think you can handle the maintenance of a real tree; for added fun, get it to rotate.
- Here is my Christmas gift to you, a bonus tip: After Christmas is over, make sure to hit the stores to stock up in all of your Christmas essentials for next year.

The batter always tastes better than the cooked cookie, but don't eat too much of it. |
If you don't have snow by you go up to the mountain to ski, as my dad and I did. |
This week, on the show, I was telling about my Christmas
traditions and how we celebrate with my family and grandparents. Every
Christmas Eve we celebrate the Polish way by making pierogis. This year it’s my
grandma’s turn to make them and I will be helping her in the kitchen. I also
read one of the classic Christmas stories, “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” I
hope you enjoy my reading of all these great stories and songs as much as I
enjoy reading them to you!

With this week of finals, it is very convenient that my three finals did not conflict with the time of my radio show. I am very happy that I
was able to fit it in for this last week, seeing that I am now taking at least
a one month break between this show, and if I continue it in the spring
semester. I really did enjoy having this time to bring the Christmas cheer into
your radios instead of hearing the same old Christmas songs that all of the
other radio stations play. If I had one more week, I would have waited, but I will
be home by this time next week.
One Last Thing:
As Frank Sinatra said during the Thank You Thanksgiving day
show, “I Want to Thank [You] Folks” for listening to Q’s Tips radio show this
semester. It has been a really great experience that St. Mike’s has been able
to allow me to do. I really appreciate all of those who were regular listeners
and blog readers, especially my Mom, Grandma, and Aunt Eileen who listen every
week. I am really appreciative of the opportunity I’ve had to share my thoughts
and songs with all of you. I am still in the decision process of whether or not
to continue the radio show next semester; only time will tell what will happen.
Here's the sign off from the end of the show, written by Bernadette:
Thanks for listening this semester,
I may not be back.
But if I change my plans,
I'll be on the attack.
