A New Semester, A New Decision

For all of you that have been anxiously waiting to hear my decision of whether my radio show will happen this semester, it unfortunately appears that it will not. With this semester, I have a full course load with some of my most difficult classes, a full internship working as an event planner at the American Red Cross, and planning the rugby team’s spring retreat. My schedule also does not work with any of the open spots reserved for show times, which proves to be a problem.

This past semester was an experience that I will never forget because of the kind words from all who listened to the show and read all of the blog posts. It took a long time to make this decision. With all of the time that is involved in planning out each show to be a success, I would not have the amount of time to also complete my necessary work at school, which is why I am here at St. Mike’s.

I am going to attempt to continue writing blog posts for your reading enjoyment, but I will not be compiling any songs to go along with the tips. I still have two semesters after this to continue the show, so look out for me to see if I will be back then. Again, I want to thank all of you for your support this last semester by taking time to listen or read the show.

Just in case you wanted to have some tips after the long break period, here they are:

  • Purchase your notebooks and folders from stores ahead of time so you don't have to pay the higher prices at the bookstore.
  • Print out your schedule ahead of time so you know where you will be going to class.
  • Take a walk around the academic buildings to find the classrooms you will be in for the semester.
  • If you accidentally enter the wrong class, try to make a joke to avoid feeling embarrassed.
  • Make sure to talk to the professor so they can start to learn your name.
  • As was said on an earlier show of Q's Tips, look into finding the best deals on textbooks.
  • Get a new classmate’s phone number in case you miss class so you can get the notes from them.
  • Keep a copy of your syllabus handy to keep track of work due.
  • Start the semester strong by starting your homework early so you won't have to catch up during breaks and can hopefully enjoy the break.
  • Don’t be afraid to go to your professor’s office hours if you have any questions throughout the semester.
As you can see I have class levels from 1-4 in my schedule this semester.

Whoops I forgot what the professor said in class, that's okay I can ask my new class friend via text.

This is all of the homework for the entire semester. Now you just need to do it.

I hope you enjoy these tips and look forward to hearing some more during the semester. I don’t always know when I will be able to post, so keep looking out for any new tips and blog posts that are to come.

Keep SMCing,
DJ Q
